A group of medical students from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, today stormed the venue of the meeting between the Federal Government and top Management of University College Hospital, Ibadan to protest the over 100 days of total blackout at the premier hospital.
The hospital had been disconnected from the grid since October 2024, by IBEDC over an outstanding alleged debt of about N500 million.
The protesters demanded an immediate reconnection of UCH and the implementation of a 50% tariff reduction they claim the Minister promised the hospital.

The meeting was convened by the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu to ascertain the main problems of power supply at the institution.
The students, who were led by a former UI students’ union president, Samson Samuel, demanded an immediate reconnection of UCH and the implementation of a 50% tariff reduction they claim the Minister promised the hospital.
