SHETTIMA, AKUME, AKPABIO, OTHERS LAY WREATHS AT ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY PARADE

President Bola Tinubu has called on the armed forces, them to embrace innovation and adaptability in addressing the nation’s security challenges.

Tinubu who was represented by the Deputy Speaker, Ben Kalu, at the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day 2025 Regimental and Award Night for Officers in Abuja, assured the armed forces that his administration would continue to prioritise the welfare and well-being of personnel, ensuring that they had the necessary resources and support to carry out their duties effectively.

He added that the exemplary service and commitment of the honoured officers had not gone unnoticed, as it stood as a shining example of what it meant to serve the country selflessly with distinction.

The Grand finale of the Armed Forces Remembrance Appeal Day will come up today across the country.

The event will, along with others, feature laying of wreaths by the President, state governors and Nigerian legion representatives and traditional 21-gun salute in memory of the fallen heroes of the world wars and the Nigerian civil war.

In Oyo State,the Grand finale is taking place at the Remembrance arcade in front of the government house,Agodi, Ibadan.

Vice President Shettima is representing President Bola Tinubu, who is currently in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

Tinubu departed Abuja last Saturday to participate in the 2025 edition of Sustainability Week (ADSW 2025) taking place in Abu Dhabi.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, invited President Tinubu to attend the summit, which began on Monday, January 12, in the emirate and is set to end on Friday, January 18.

The summit aims to bring together global leaders to accelerate sustainable development and advance socioeconomic progress.
