The Central Bank of Nigeria has announced that it will slam a fine of 150 million Naira per branch on Deposit Money Banks found guilty of facilitating the illegal flow of mint naira notes to currency hawkers and dishonest agents.
The apex bank stated this in a circular issued and signed by the Acting Director of the Currency Operations Department, Mohammed Olayemi.
To ensure compliance, the apex bank stated that it would increase periodic spot checks in banking halls and ATMs while deploying mystery shoppers to uncover illicit cash hawking spots across the country.
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has forecast dust haze and cloudiness from today to Wednesday across the country. The NiMet’s weather outlook released in Abuja, predicted that the North central and inland cities of the South are expected to be in dust haze, with visibility ranges of 2km to 5km throughout the forecast period. The agency advised the public to take necessary precautions as dust particles would be in suspense.
