The Oyo state independent electoral commission, (OYSIEC) has disclosed that there will be movement restrictions from 6am to 4pm this Saturday’s local government election in the state.
The chairman of OYSIEC, Aare Isiaka Olagunju who disclosed this at a media parley in his office explained that the voting exercise will hold between 8am and 3pm.
The chairman noted that sensitive and non-sensitive electoral material has been distributed to over fifteen councils including Oke Ogun 1,2, Ogbomoso zones while distribution for Ibadan zones will commence on Friday.
Aare Olagunju advocated more cooperation from the electorate noting that fifteen thousand security personnel including the police, Nigeria security and civil defense Corp, Immigration and anti-corruption agencies will be deployed for the election.
The OYSIEC boss called on citizens to have total confidence that the outcome of Saturdays local government election will truly reflect the choices of the people.
OYSIEC also said that there will be cancellation electoral results in the instances of violence, harassment or threat to electoral officials, adding that the final chairmanship results would be input on the IREV, and formally announced at the headquarters pf the OYSIEC from 4pm on Saturday.
OYSIEC is conducting the election in all the thirty-three local government areas of the state on 27th April,2024.
