OYO POLICE ARRAIGN 29 YORUBA NATION AGITATORS IN IBADAN

Twenty-nine suspects have been arraigned on Wednesday before the Chief Magistrate Court Iyaganku Ibadan for their involvement and roles in aborted invasion of the Oyo State Government Secretariat on Saturday, April 13.

The suspects were arraigned on seven count charges bothering on treasonable felony, unlawful society, illegal possession of firearm, conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

The offence according to the Investigative Police Officer, Bakare Rasaq, is contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.

The Oyo State Police had earlier arraigned no fewer than 20 suspected Yoruba nation agitators over aborted invasion of the state’s House of Assembly complex in Ibadan.

On Saturday, April 13, 2024, some masked persons suspected to be Yoruba Nation agitators invaded the state secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, to hoist their flag before the joint security personnel demobilised them.
