EDO STATE GOVERNOR APPOINTS OMOTAYO AS NEW DEPUTY GOVERNOR

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has appointed a 38-year-old engineer, Omobayo Godwin, as the new deputy governor of the state.

The appointment followed the impeachment of the former deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, by the state House of Assembly on Monday.

According to the panel set up for the impeachment proceedings of the former deputy gov, Shuaibu was probed and sacked on allegations of perjury and leaking of the state government’s secrets.

The state assembly, which is the petitioner in the case, had opened and closed its case, paving the way for Shaibu to defend the allegations levelled against him .

Before his new appointment, Omobayo Godwin served as a Senior Maintenance Engineer at a private firm and cut his professional teeth in the operations in the South-South area, providing top-notch services and growing the business in the region.
