The Federal Government has condemned the reported attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which reportedly killed at least 12 people and injured more than 300 others.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its spokesperson, Oluwafemi Adeniyi, described the incident as a dangerous escalation that threatens civilian safety, violates Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and undermines regional peace and stability.
Nigeria urged all parties involved in the conflict to respect international law, exercise restraint and avoid further actions that could endanger lives or damage critical infrastructure.
The government also expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia, offering condolences to the families of the victims and wishing those injured a speedy recovery. It commended the Saudi authorities for their emergency response and efforts to protect lives.
The reported attack has raised concerns about the safety of air travel in the Kingdom, which receives thousands of Nigerian Muslims travelling for Hajj and Umrah. However, the Federal Government’s statement did not announce any changes to pilgrimage arrangements or issue a new travel advisory.
Nigeria reaffirmed its support for diplomatic efforts and dialogue to de-escalate tensions, protect civilians and promote lasting peace in the Middle East.
