The Federal High Court has commenced enforcement proceedings against properties linked to the Chairman of Rahamaniyya Group of Companies, Alhaji Abdulrahman Musa Bashar, over an estimated $40 million debt owed to Petrichor Energy FZCO.
The enforcement exercise began in Lagos and Abuja following a February 2026 court order allowing Petrichor to enforce in Nigeria a judgment of the High Court of Justice of England and Wales.
Court officials served enforcement documents at properties connected to Bashar and Ultimate Oil & Gas FZCO.
The action followed a dispute over petroleum product transactions between Petrichor and Ultimate Oil & Gas between 2022 and 2023 involving gasoil and Jet-A1 aviation fuel.
An English court later entered judgment against Bashar and Ultimate Oil & Gas, with the liability put at about $40.2 million.
A worldwide freezing order was subsequently issued over assets linked to the defendants in Nigeria, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and France.
Bashar’s lawyer, Mohammed Sheriff, challenged the enforcement exercise at a property in Maitama, Abuja, arguing that the required court documents had not been properly served. He also said the parties were negotiating a settlement and that Bashar had paid N1 billion the previous week.
The latest action is part of Petrichor Energy’s efforts to recover the outstanding debt.
