Police Arrest 70-Year-Old Man Over Alleged Defilement of Bauchi Girl

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 70-year-old man, Usman Abubakar, for allegedly defiling an eight-year-old girl in the Tsakanin Bayara area of Bauchi metropolis.

The police said the case was reported by the girl’s father on August 26, 2026, after the suspect allegedly lured the child to an uncompleted building in the area.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the suspect was arrested shortly after the report was received and allegedly confessed to the offence during interrogation.

The victim was taken to the police clinic for medical examination and treatment.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the alleged offence and directed that the suspect be prosecuted after investigations are completed.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

The police urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and promptly report suspected cases of child abuse and sexual violence.
