Police Uncover Baby Factory in Ogun, Rescue Pregnant Women, Children

The Ogun State Police Command has uncovered an alleged baby factory in Abaren Village, Mowe, rescuing two pregnant women and four children and arresting six suspects.

Police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the operation was carried out on August 24 following intelligence on suspected human trafficking and illegal adoption activities at the facility.

The rescued women were identified as 23-year-old Ilesanmi Foluke, who was seven months pregnant, and 20-year-old Ejekwa Melody, who was eight months pregnant. Four children, comprising two boys and two girls, were also rescued.

Police said follow-up investigations led officers to a hospital where another victim, 26-year-old Blessing Bright Effiong, had given birth to a baby boy on August 20. The whereabouts of the newborn could not be established, leading to the arrest of the attending nurse.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and efforts to locate the missing newborn.
