Tinubu Celebrates Babangida at 85, Hails His Impact on Nigeria

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd.), on his 85th birthday, describing him as an outstanding leader whose administration left lasting marks on Nigeria.

Babangida, who ruled Nigeria from 1985 to 1993, turned 85 on Monday, August 17.

In a birthday message issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said Babangida’s contributions to national development had secured him an enduring place in Nigeria’s history.

The President said Babangida’s eight-year administration had significant impacts on Nigeria’s political, economic and geographic development, including the creation of infrastructure, agencies and institutions that continue to serve the country.

Tinubu also commended the former military leader for continuing to offer counsel and guidance to the nation despite his retirement from active public life.

He wished Babangida continued good health, strength and longevity as he celebrates his 85th birthday.
