Fifteen passengers have been burnt to death after an 18-seater bus crashed and caught fire along the Enagi–Costain Duma Road in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.

The accident occurred on Saturday at a sharp bend around Costain Duma, trapping the passengers inside the vehicle as it was engulfed in flames.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the death toll, although the identities of the victims and the exact cause of the crash were not immediately disclosed.

An eyewitness, Ahmed Ndagana, said the victims were unable to escape after the vehicle caught fire shortly after the crash.

The remains of the 15 victims were later given a mass burial in the area.

The incident has renewed concerns over road safety, particularly at sharp bends and during the rainy season when road conditions may become hazardous.

Further details from the police were not immediately available.
