The National Youth Service Corps has disowned a viral notice claiming that a special window for corps members’ redeployment is currently open.
The NYSC, in a disclaimer posted on its verified X handle on Friday, described the notice as fake news and warned corps members and the public against acting on it.
The fraudulent notice, titled “Urgent Notice: NYSC Redeployment,” claimed that a redeployment window had been opened due to national security, health and other concerns.
It also provided phone numbers and asked corps members seeking redeployment to contact the listed individuals, claiming that valid documents would be required.
The NYSC said the notice was not authorised by the scheme.
The development comes amid concerns over fraudsters exploiting the NYSC redeployment process to deceive and extort corps members and their families.
The scheme advised corps members and members of the public to verify information concerning deployment and redeployment through its official channels before taking any action or making payments.
The NYSC also reiterated that official deployment and redeployment processes are handled through its approved platforms and offices.
