The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside senior party leaders, is meeting in Abuja to formally unveil Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
The meeting, taking place at the Continental Hotel, is expected to put to rest months of speculation over the composition of the APC’s presidential ticket ahead of the next general election.
There had been widespread reports suggesting that President Tinubu was considering replacing Shettima with a northern Christian as his vice-presidential candidate. However, party leaders at the meeting confirmed that the President has retained Shettima for the 2027 race.
According to senior APC officials, the formal presentation of Shettima is expected to serve as the party’s official confirmation of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket for the forthcoming presidential election.
The development signals the party’s determination to maintain continuity in its leadership as preparations gradually gather momentum for the 2027 general elections.
An official announcement is expected at the conclusion of the meeting.
