Mrs. Florence Ajimobi has officially arrived in Vienna to begin her duties as Nigeria’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Austria and the International Organisations based in Vienna.
Announcing her arrival in a social media post on Friday, Ajimobi said she was received at the VIP Wing of Vienna International Airport by the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Nigerian Embassy and Permanent Mission, Mr. Muyiwa Onifade, alongside officials of the mission and members of the Nigerian community in Austria.
She expressed gratitude for the warm reception, noting that representatives of various Nigerian community groups, including the Oduduwa Group, Igbo Cultural Group, Nigeria-Austria Friendship Group, Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), and Nigerian students in Austria, were present to welcome her.
Ajimobi said she looks forward to strengthening the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Austria while promoting greater cooperation with the international organisations headquartered in Vienna.
She was among the non-career ambassadorial nominees submitted by President Bola Tinubu to the Senate for confirmation in November 2025. The list included both career and non-career diplomats nominated to represent Nigeria in key countries and international organisations.
In March 2026, President Tinubu approved the deployment of ambassadors-designate and high commissioners to various diplomatic missions around the world, including appointments to the United Nations and other international organisations.
Florence Ajimobi is the widow of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, and now joins Nigeria’s diplomatic corps as the country’s representative to Austria and the international organisations based in Vienna.
