The Anambra State Police Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the suspected murder of a 23-year-old female student whose lifeless body was discovered inside her residence in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.

The victim, identified as a student of the College of Nursing Sciences, Alor, was found dead on June 14, 2026, under circumstances that have raised serious concerns among residents and security authorities.

Police officers who visited the scene observed multiple signs of violence on the deceased’s body, including a deep cut on one of her thighs and other visible injuries. Blood stains found around the residence further strengthened suspicions that the young woman may have been the victim of a violent attack.

Following preliminary findings, the case was transferred from the Nnobi Divisional Police Headquarters to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for a comprehensive and discreet investigation aimed at uncovering the circumstances surrounding her death.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the landlord of the property where the deceased lived has been taken into custody and is currently being questioned by detectives. Authorities have not disclosed the specific reasons for his detention, but indicated that he is assisting investigators with information that may aid the inquiry.

The body of the deceased has been evacuated from the scene and deposited in a hospital mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death and provide additional forensic evidence for investigators.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State has directed the investigative team to handle the case with urgency and professionalism, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation. Detectives have been instructed to explore every available lead, gather all relevant evidence and ensure that anyone found to be connected to the crime is identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The tragic incident has generated concern within the Alor community, particularly among students of the College of Nursing Sciences, as residents await the outcome of the police investigation. Authorities have assured the public that no effort will be spared in uncovering the truth behind the student’s death and bringing those responsible to justice.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
