Tension erupted in parts of Oyo State on Wednesday as youths and residents staged a protest over the recent abduction of students and teachers in the state.

The protesters, who marched through major streets in Ogbomoso, were seen chanting slogans demanding the immediate release of the victims.

Residents expressed anger over the worsening security situation and the rising economic hardship, accusing the government of failing to adequately protect lives and improve the welfare of citizens.

During the protest, some demonstrators were also seen pulling down billboards and banners bearing the image of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The protest followed the recent attack on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area, where gunmen abducted several pupils and teachers during coordinated assaults on the communities.

One of the abducted teachers was later reportedly killed by the attackers, further heightening tension and fear among residents.
