Nigerian music star Davido has announced an indefinite break from releasing new music.
The award-winning singer made the disclosure during a recent livestream session, where he told fans not to expect fresh songs from him anytime soon.
According to the “OBO” crooner, he is currently on a musical sabbatical and does not feel pressured to release new tracks to maintain his relevance in the industry.
“Stop asking me when I am dropping new music. I am on a musical break,” Davido said during the livestream.
He added that his existing catalogue remains dominant in clubs and entertainment spaces.
“Like I said, if you go to the club right now, 10 out of 20 songs are mine. So I am on a musical break,” he stated.
Davido also reacted to the growing popularity of celebrity boxing tournaments in Nigeria, describing the initiative as a positive development for the entertainment industry.
“I am actually impressed by the celebrity boxing tournament. It is a welcome development,” he said.
The singer’s comments come amid rising interest in celebrity boxing events involving entertainers and online personalities.
Recently, streamer Carter Efe reportedly defeated controversial singer Portable to emerge as the reigning champion of the Nigerian celebrity boxing tournament.
Following the defeat, Portable accused some of his colleagues in the music industry of failing to support him, claiming that many entertainers dislike him.
