President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Modupe Adelabu as the new Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Examinations Council (NECO).
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership and reforms within key education agencies.
Professor Adelabu is a specialist in educational administration and a retired academic of Obafemi Awolowo University. She has previously held senior roles in both academia and public service.
She served as Deputy Governor of Ekiti State between 2013 and 2014 and later chaired the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) from 2018 to 2021, where she contributed to policy development and oversight of technical education in Nigeria.
Her appointment is expected to support efforts to improve the credibility, standards, and administration of national examinations under NECO.
