The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays for the Easter celebration.

Friday, April 3, will be observed as Good Friday, while Monday, April 6, has been set aside as Easter Monday.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, congratulated Christians in Nigeria and across the diaspora, urging them to reflect on the values associated with the season.

He encouraged Nigerians to embrace selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance and love, describing them as virtues exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Tunji-Ojo also called for unity and peaceful coexistence among citizens, noting that Easter serves as a reminder of the importance of tolerance, compassion and community in nation-building.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to policies aimed at driving national rebirth, economic growth and shared prosperity.

The minister also wished Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
