Newly sworn-in Minister of State for Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, has outlined his priorities in office, pledging to strengthen government revenue, enforce fiscal discipline, and ensure that public funds deliver tangible benefits to Nigerians.

Oyedele made this known shortly after being sworn in by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He described his appointment as a call to service at a time when Nigeria faces significant fiscal challenges but also promising opportunities for growth.

According to him, the management of public finances will play a crucial role in determining the country’s long-term stability and prosperity. He emphasised the need for efficient use of resources to improve citizens’ well-being and drive national development.

The minister expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the trust placed in him, as well as to the Nigerian Senate for confirming his nomination. He noted that the role goes beyond personal achievement and represents an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress.

Oyedele also highlighted the importance of collaboration, stating that he would work closely with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, alongside other government institutions, the National Assembly, and private sector stakeholders.

He stressed that strong institutional cooperation will be essential in strengthening Nigeria’s fiscal framework and mobilising the resources needed for sustainable development.

Reaffirming his commitment to public service, Oyedele said he would approach his duties with integrity, humility, and dedication, noting that his focus remains on delivering meaningful impact for Nigerians.
