The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a suspect, Giwa Sodiq, in connection with a violent altercation that led to the death of a man identified as Kehinde, popularly known as “Ogo Ojigbo,” in the Asalu Community of Lalupon, located in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State.
According to the police, the incident occurred after community authorities alerted officers at the Iyana-Offa Division about a confrontation involving a group of youths within the community during the night.
Security guards reportedly raised the alarm while residents were asleep, prompting immediate attention from local authorities. The injured victims were rushed to Ojo Oluwa Hospital in Iyana-Offa for treatment, but Kehinde later died from the injuries he sustained.
Police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of the Iyana-Offa Division quickly visited the scene and the hospital as part of the investigation. One suspect, Giwa Sodiq, was arrested in connection with the incident, while other individuals believed to be involved fled the area.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue of Adeoyo State Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Femi Haruna, commended the swift response of officers involved in the operation and urged residents to remain vigilant. He also appealed to members of the public with useful information that could help in the arrest of the remaining suspects to come forward and assist the police.
Authorities further encouraged residents to cooperate with security agencies in efforts to maintain safety and security within their communities.
