Sanwo-Olu appoints new Lagos Accountant-General

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the deployment of Muyiwa John Adetola as the new Accountant-General of Lagos State and Permanent Secretary, State Treasury Office.

The decision was conveyed in an official circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service. Adetola’s appointment follows the statutory retirement of the outgoing Accountant-General and Permanent Secretary, Abiodun Muritala.

Prior to his new role, Adetola served as State Auditor-General in the Office of the State Auditor-General. His redeployment is part of efforts to ensure continuity in the state’s financial administration.

The Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro, congratulated Adetola on his appointment and urged stakeholders to cooperate fully to facilitate a smooth transition.

The appointment takes immediate effect from Monday, March 2, 2026.

The state government described the redeployment as a strategic move aimed at strengthening efficiency, accountability, and stability in public financial management.
