The Osun State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, has cautioned corps members against evading service and urged them to maintain discipline and commitment throughout their service year.
Kubiangha delivered the warning during a familiarisation visit and General Community Development Service meeting held in Olorunda Local Government Area at the Osogbo Township Stadium. Addressing the corps members, he emphasised that national development relies heavily on individual responsibility and active participation in the NYSC programme.
He urged corps members to respond positively to the call to national service, stressing that acts of evasion and indiscipline undermine the objectives of the scheme. “The clarion call is for you to contribute your quota to national development and not to be evasive during service,” Kubiangha stated.
The coordinator also highlighted the importance of professionalism, including proper dressing in the approved NYSC uniform and showing respect for constituted authority at all times. He warned against unauthorised travel, lending of NYSC uniforms to unauthorised persons, and failure to participate in the mandatory monthly clearance exercises, noting that such infractions could lead to disciplinary measures, including possible extension of the service year.
Kubiangha further charged the corps members to make meaningful and measurable contributions at their Places of Primary Assignment, in line with the core objectives of the NYSC programme.
Speaking at the event, the Osogbo Zonal Inspector, Dolapo Stephen, reinforced the message, urging corps members to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations governing the scheme. He emphasised that the NYSC operates within a clearly defined legal and administrative framework, and compliance is essential to achieving its goals.
