FIFA is set to spearhead efforts to raise $75 million to rebuild football infrastructure in Gaza following widespread destruction caused by the war between Israel and Hamas.

The announcement was made in Washington by US President Donald Trump during the inaugural meeting of his newly formed “Board of Peace,” a body made up of close allies and currently focused on reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip.

“I’m also pleased to announce that FIFA will be helping to raise a total of $75 million for projects in Gaza,” Trump said, adding that the projects would focus on football facilities, including pitches and other sporting infrastructure. He suggested that prominent international football stars could also be involved in the initiative, referencing FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who attended the meeting.

FIFA later released a statement outlining plans to construct a football academy, a new 20,000-seat national stadium and dozens of pitches across the territory. While the governing body did not specify the $75 million figure mentioned by Trump, it said funding would be mobilised from international leaders and institutions.

Infantino described the initiative as a landmark partnership aimed at fostering investment in football to support recovery in post-conflict areas.

The “Board of Peace” was established following a ceasefire negotiated in October by the United States in collaboration with Qatar and Egypt, bringing a halt to two years of intense conflict in Gaza.
