The Kano State Censorship Board has directed the immediate closure of all entertainment centres across Kano State for the duration of the Ramadan fasting period.
The directive, which takes effect from 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, applies to event centres, popularly known as gala houses, as well as Disc Jockeys and other entertainment operators.
Public Relations Officer of the board, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, said the decision was taken to enable residents observe the holy month in a peaceful and undisturbed atmosphere.
He explained that the closure would remain in force throughout the Ramadan period, with the reopening date, particularly ahead of the Eid celebrations, to be announced later.
The board urged all affected operators and stakeholders to comply fully with the directive, noting that the measure aligns with its mandate to regulate entertainment activities within the state.
