The Oyo State Police Command has arrested seven suspects in connection with alleged murder, cult-related violence, and other criminal activities across different parts of the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed the arrests in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the operations also led to the recovery of various incriminating exhibits.

According to the statement, one suspect, Yaru Saka, was arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Amodu Saliu in the Budo Panu area of Tede in the Oke Ogun axis. Police operatives reportedly recovered a locally fabricated single-barrel gun at the scene of the incident.

The command also said it foiled a cult-related disturbance in Jobele town, where officers rescued Abraham Atunde, 35, who sustained stab injuries during a violent clash. A blood-stained knife allegedly linked to the attack was recovered.

Further investigations led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Sammod Bologun, 29, and Katie Suleiman, 24. The police said both suspects confessed to involvement in the cult violence and are assisting ongoing investigations aimed at apprehending other fleeing members of the group.

In a separate incident in the Elekara area of Ilora, police operatives arrested Isiaka Muhammed, 23, for alleged grievous harm. The suspect was accused of attacking a night guard, Adeniran Ramon, 50, with a cutlass, which resulted in the victim losing his left hand. A blood-stained cutlass was reportedly recovered from the suspect.

Police also arrested three other suspects following the interception of a Toyota Liteace commercial bus allegedly loaded with stolen electronic and household items. The suspects were identified as Rukayat Favour Umar, 17; Mubarak Umar, 26; and Jimoh Ibrahim, 49.

The police said investigations into the various cases are ongoing, adding that efforts are being intensified to apprehend other suspects linked to the crimes.
