A middle-aged woman has lost her life following a road accident that occurred early Wednesday morning in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The crash happened at the Iwo Road axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and left at least seven other persons injured.
According to sources, the accident involved three vehicles, including a red Nissan Micra with registration number MNY 539 XN, a white tanker truck, and a commercial Toyota Hiace bus with registration number BBS 863 XA.
Preliminary reports indicate that brake failure may have caused the crash after the driver of one of the vehicles reportedly lost control, leading to multiple collisions.
The deceased, who was a passenger in the Nissan Micra, was said to have died at the scene of the accident. Other occupants of the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The remains of the victim have been deposited at a morgue, while the Nissan Micra was severely damaged during the crash.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Oyo State confirmed the incident.
The accident caused heavy traffic congestion along the route, leaving motorists travelling toward Iwo Road stranded for several hours before emergency responders cleared the wreckage.
