President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 1,000 youths from Plateau State to serve as forest guards as part of efforts to strengthen security across the state.

The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, announced the approval on Tuesday at an event held in honour of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, following his recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Shettima, the forest guard initiative is aimed at improving safety in rural communities, particularly areas affected by recurring clashes between farmers and herders.

“The President has given the go-ahead for the employment of 1,000 youths as forest guards across Plateau State. The dividends of democracy will begin to be felt within the next three weeks,” he said.

The Vice President also urged residents of the state to support the federal government’s security measures, assuring them that additional development projects would be rolled out to further enhance peace and socio-economic growth in the state.
