Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has returned to Nigeria after spending several years in exile.

His return follows reports that his name was removed from the Federal Government’s wanted list under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Igboho arrived in Ibadan on Monday and proceeded directly to the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja. The visit marks his first major public appearance since leaving the country in 2021.

Confirming the development, his spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, said Igboho was en route to the Olubadan’s palace at the time of the announcement.

“As I’m speaking to you, Chief Sunday Adeyemo is on his way to the Olubadan’s palace. He should be there any moment from now,” Koiki said.

Koiki described the return as historic, stating that Igboho is no longer being sought by government authorities and is now free to return home.

“This is a moment of hope for Ibadanland and the entire Yorubaland,” he said.

Igboho had been residing in the Benin Republic after fleeing Nigeria following a security operation at his residence in Ibadan in 2021.
