First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu called on Nigerians to view environmental protection and cleanliness as a shared societal responsibility.
She made this appeal on Monday in Abuja on the occasion of International Clean Energy Day 2026, which is being observed under the theme “Clean Energy for People and Planet.”
According to Tinubu, this day serves as a reminder of the shared responsibility of citizens to protect and preserve the environment for present and future generations.
“I appeal to each and every one of us to utilize renewable energy and sustainable technologies—the essential foundations of our survival, our health, and our responsibility for the environment,” she said.
The First Lady encouraged Nigerians to work together for a greener and healthier planet and emphasized that clean energy remains essential for ecological sustainability and human well-being.
She wished Nigerians a happy International Clean Energy Day.
The International Clean Energy Day is observed every year on January 26th and was established by the United Nations General Assembly to raise awareness of a just and inclusive transition to clean energy and to promote appropriate action – for the benefit of humanity and the planet.
