Nigerian music star Burna Boy has set a new record as the most streamed African artist on Spotify in 2025, recording nearly two billion streams within the year.
The Grammy-winning singer amassed a total of 1.986 billion streams on the global streaming platform, making 2025 the biggest streaming year by an African artist in Spotify’s history.
Burna Boy finished ahead of fellow African superstars including Wizkid, Tyla, Rema, and Davido to top the list of the continent’s most streamed artists for the year.
Spotify’s 2025 streaming data shows that Wizkid ranked second with 1.81 billion streams, while South African singer Tyla placed third with 1.67 billion streams. Rema followed closely in fourth position with 1.63 billion streams, while Davido completed the top five with 1.58 billion streams.
Other artists in the top ten include Asake with 1.52 billion streams, Ayra Starr with 1.47 billion streams, CKay with 1.38 billion streams, Seyi Vibez with 1.32 billion streams, and Mr Eazi with 1.26 billion streams.
The achievement further reinforces Burna Boy’s position as one of Africa’s most influential and commercially successful music artists on the global stage.
