Alaafin of Oyo to Confer Chieftaincy Titles on Seyi Tinubu, Abubakar Yari

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, will on Sunday confer chieftaincy titles on Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, and a former governor of Zamfara State, Senator Abubakar Yari.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity to the Alaafin, Bode Durojaiye.

According to the statement, Senator Yari will be honoured with the title of Obaloyin of Yorubaland, a designation symbolising love, compassion, justice, and the role of bridging the physical and spiritual realms.

Seyi Tinubu, a businessman, will receive the title of Okanlomo of Yorubaland, which represents custodianship of Yoruba values, unity, and cultural heritage.

The statement added that the conferment of the titles carries responsibilities, including the promotion of Yoruba culture and traditions, advisory roles to the Alaafin, fostering unity among the people, and supporting initiatives in education and social welfare.

The chieftaincy ceremony is expected to attract dignitaries and traditional leaders from across the country.
