Nigerian music superstars Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage have officially reconciled after a long-running rift that spanned seven years, marking a major moment of unity in the entertainment industry.
The reconciliation happened on Thursday in Lagos during The Price of Being Her panel at Entertainment Week Africa, where both artistes were featured speakers.
Their disagreement, which began on social media years ago, was triggered by a cryptic post from Yemi Alade insinuating that some female entertainers edited or enhanced their body features to mislead fans. The post came shortly after Tiwa Savage had shared photos showcasing her curves, sparking tension between both singers. Tiwa later responded, warning Alade not to “start a war you can’t finish,” escalating the feud.
However, the atmosphere at Thursday’s event took a heartwarming turn when Yemi Alade openly praised Tiwa Savage’s resilience and impact on women in the industry.
In a video from the event, Alade said:
“I honestly want you to know that those moments you get rugged and do what you truly want to do, you are standing up for many females. Just continue being you. You are literally walking in strength.”
The statement moved Tiwa Savage to tears, and the pair later shared a warm embrace backstage. Another video showed Tiwa singing and hugging Yemi Alade, confirming that the longstanding conflict had finally been put to rest.
Their reunion has sparked excitement across social media, with fans celebrating the end of one of the most talked-about feuds in Afrobeats and calling it a positive step for female solidarity in the entertainment industry.
