Temi Otedola, daughter of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola, has opened up about her decision to adopt her husband’s surname following her recent marriage to Afrobeats artist Mr Eazi. Now known as Temiloluwa Ajibade, she explained that the change was a personal choice rooted in her new identity as a married woman.

She said the decision felt natural to her, though she also emphasized that every woman should have the freedom to decide for herself. While some choose to retain their maiden names after marriage, Temi believes that what’s most important is that the choice remains personal and respected.

“I’m now a married woman, the obvious thing for me is to take my husband’s name. But it’s my personal choice. I also respect a woman’s ability to choose,” she said.

Temi also reflected on the value of keeping her relationship private over the years. She explained that moving quietly has allowed her to shape her own narrative and share aspects of her life only when she feels ready. In her words, “Moving in silence allows you to build the story you want and share it when and how you’re ready.”

That sense of control, she noted, has helped her stay grounded amid public attention, enabling her to focus on what matters most to her without external pressure.

Her romantic journey with Mr Eazi, whose full name is Oluwatosin Ajibade, included a civil ceremony in Monaco, a traditional Yoruba wedding in Dubai, and a white wedding in the scenic landscapes of Iceland. The series of ceremonies reflected their personal style and preference for intimacy over publicity.

Temi’s decision to drop the Otedola name sparked conversation online, especially given her family’s public profile. However, she remains confident in her choice, which she sees as a reflection of love, independence, and the life she’s building with her partner.
