President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially launched the reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Federal Highway—an essential infrastructure project aimed at enhancing connectivity and boosting the socio-economic development of Northern Nigeria.
The flag-off ceremony took place on Sunday in Jere, located in the Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State. President Tinubu was represented at the event by Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, who highlighted the strategic importance of the highway, describing it as a vital link between the Federal Capital Territory and more than 12 states across the North Central, North West, and North East regions.
Governor Uba Sani noted that with the non-kinetic approach of tackling insecurity is bearing fruits as motorists can now ply the road at any time of the day without fear of being attacked.
The Governor also disclosed that the President has directed all stakeholders to expedite work on other major federal road projects, including the long-delayed Eastern and Western Bypasses in Kaduna.
The reconstruction of the highway is expected to greatly improve the movement of goods and people, spur regional development, and help bridge the infrastructure gap that has long hindered growth in Northern Nigeria.
