The Federal High court in Abuja has indefinitely adjourned the trial of the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra,Nnamdi Kanu.

The Court made the decision this morning, following Nnamdi Kanu’s insistence that the presiding Judge, Justice Binta Nyako cannot preside over his case citing her previous recusal.

Kanu, had questioned the jurisdiction of his alleged terrorism case when he re-appeared before the Court.

The lead counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor, briefed  newsmen  on the development shortly after the court session.

Nnamdi Kanu has thereby been returned to the custody of the Department of the State Service, DSS, following the indefinite adjournment of his terrorism trial.

He was brought into Nigeria in June 2021 and has since been detained and tried for alleged terrorism. His trial was stalled after Justice Nyako recused herself from the case following an oral application by the defendant on September 24, 2024.

The IPOB leader had directly told the judge that he no longer had confidence in her handling of his trial.
