TINUBU SEEKS CONFIRMATION OF INEC REC, TWO OTHERS

President Bola Tinubu has written the Senate seeking confirmation of the appointment of commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Tinubu’s request is contained in a letter to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and read during plenary on Tuesday.

The nominees, according to the letter, include: Tukur Yusuf, National Electoral Commissioner, representing North-west; Sunday Aja, National Electoral Commissioner (South-east) and Saseyi Ibiyemi as Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State.

After reading the letter, Akpabio referred the request to the Senate Committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission, which is expected to review the nominations and report back promptly.

The committee is to report back in two weeks.
