The Super Eagles will face Poland and Portugal in international friendly matches in June as part of preparations for upcoming major competitions, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced.

The confirmation was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the NFF Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, who described the fixtures as important tests for the national team.

According to the federation, the match against Poland will be played on June 3 at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw, while the clash against Portugal is scheduled for June 10 at a venue yet to be announced.

The NFF’s FIFA match agent, Jairo Pachon of Eurodata Sport, said both fixtures were arranged to give the technical crew quality opposition as the team continues to build toward future tournaments.

Olajire said the friendlies would provide an opportunity for the coaching crew to evaluate the squad against strong European sides.

He noted that the matches would also help the team improve cohesion, test tactical options, and assess new players ahead of a demanding international calendar.

According to him, playing against Poland and Portugal would offer the Super Eagles a valuable platform to measure their strength and make necessary adjustments before competitive fixtures.

Nigeria are also expected to defend their title at the Unity Cup Tournament in London, scheduled to hold from May 26 to May 30, before proceeding to the June friendlies.

The Super Eagles head into the fixtures on the back of positive recent performances, having defeated Iran and drawn with Jordan in international matches played in Antalya, Turkey.

The three-time African champions are expected to use the games to build momentum and strengthen preparations for future continental and global competitions.

The match against Portugal will also serve as the European side’s final fixture before departing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Olajire expressed confidence that the two high-profile friendlies would further sharpen the Super Eagles and improve the team’s overall readiness for the challenges ahead.
