The new Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory Command, Ahmed Sanusi, has vowed to tackle crime decisively, declaring that criminal activities will not be tolerated under his leadership.
Speaking during his maiden press briefing in Abuja, Sanusi said the command would adopt proactive and intelligence-driven strategies aimed at preventing crime and ensuring public safety.
He stated that the police would be relentless in identifying and pursuing criminal elements, with a focus on deterrence rather than reaction.
Sanusi also issued a warning to criminals, urging them to abandon unlawful activities or leave the territory, or risk facing the full force of the law.
The police commissioner emphasised the need for professionalism within the force, cautioning officers against misconduct and urging them to maintain discipline and civility in their interactions with the public.
He called on residents to support security efforts by providing timely and useful information, stressing that effective policing requires collaboration between law enforcement and the community.
Sanusi further expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for the appointment, pledging to strengthen the security architecture of the FCT and build on existing efforts to improve safety.
