Korede Fasoyin, the son of veteran Christ Apostolic Church gospel singer, Deborah Fasoyin, has dismissed viral reports claiming that his mother has passed away.
Korede described the information circulating on social media as false, stressing that the gospel singer is alive and well.
The rumour had spread widely online, with several posts sharing Mama Fasoyin’s photograph alongside “RIP” inscriptions, while many social media users also posted condolence messages.
Reacting to the development, Korede explained that the family had begun preparing a video to clarify the situation and reassure well-wishers who had been worried by the reports. He noted that the family started receiving numerous calls from within and outside Nigeria shortly after the rumour surfaced.
According to him, calls began coming in from midnight from people asking whether the singer had died, a development he attributed to misinformation shared online without verification.
Mama Fasoyin recently celebrated her 86th birthday on March 1, 2026. She remains a highly respected gospel singer within the Christ Apostolic Church and beyond, and is widely known for the popular Yoruba gospel song, Odun N Lo Sopin.
Over the years, her music has continued to influence Nigerian gospel music, earning her recognition among generations of church music lovers.
