FG approves N4bn take-off grants for Tinubu poly, Epe varsity.

The Federal Government has approved a take-off grant of N2bn each for **Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic, Abuja, and the **Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe in Lagos State to support the commencement of their operations.

The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, disclosed this on Thursday during the inauguration of key officials appointed to lead the newly established institutions.

Those inaugurated include Prof. Nosiru Onibon, who will serve as the pioneer Rector of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic, Abuja; Prof. Adeola Oshikoya, appointed as Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe; and Dr Angela Ajala, who assumed office as Executive Secretary of the **National Commission for Colleges of Education.

Presenting the letters of appointment in Abuja, the minister said the establishment of the new institutions forms part of the Federal Government’s broader effort to expand access to higher education and strengthen Nigeria’s capacity in science, technology and innovation.

Alausa noted that every child in Nigeria deserves access to high-quality education that meets global standards, adding that the newly appointed officials were selected based on their track records and contributions to the education sector.

He urged the appointees to provide strong leadership that would guide the growth and long-term development of the institutions.

According to him, the administration of **Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to building a stronger education system capable of producing skilled manpower required for national development.

The minister explained that the N2bn take-off grants would enable the institutions to establish basic administrative and academic structures as they begin operations.

He added that the two institutions were strategically located to maximise the economic opportunities and human resources available in their respective regions.

Alausa further stated that the schools are expected to focus on key areas including technological innovation, renewable energy, climate change response, disaster risk management and other research fields critical to national development.

He also congratulated Ajala on her appointment, noting that strengthening teacher education remains essential to improving Nigeria’s overall education system.
