The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has announced a power outage affecting several communities in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, following a vehicular accident that damaged a high-tension electricity pole along the Akala Expressway.
In an official notice issued on Monday and signed by its management, the company explained that the incident occurred on the Oluyole 11kV feeder, which supplies electricity to a number of residential and commercial areas in the city. The damage to the high-tension pole resulted in an immediate disruption of power supply to communities connected to several transformers along the affected feeder.
According to the statement, customers served by the Adeoje 1, Adeoje 2, Adeoje 3, Adeoje 4, Red Gate, Bird Plus, Dominance, Omooke, Sofeco, White New transformers and surrounding neighbourhoods are currently experiencing the outage as a result of the incident.
The distribution company noted that the accident led to significant damage to the pole and associated infrastructure, making it necessary for engineers and technical personnel to begin emergency repair work before electricity can be safely restored.
IBEDC assured affected residents and businesses that its technical team has been mobilised to the site and is working diligently to repair the damaged infrastructure and restore power supply as quickly as possible.
The company also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the disruption and appealed to customers in the affected communities for patience and understanding while the repair work is ongoing. IBEDC added that updates would be provided as work progresses and normal electricity supply is gradually restored to the impacted areas.
