Police have launched an investigation after the body of a 62-year-old woman was found on a bush path near Ori-Apata Oderemi in Ido State. The victim, who had a deep neck wound, is believed to have been dead for about a week.
Suspects arrested: Muhammed Sanusi, 42, and Ogbu James Ajah, 40, were arrested and handed over to the state Criminal Investigation Department.
Public reaction: The discovery initially sparked protests. However, the Ido State Police Chief and the mayor managed to restore order by appealing for calm.
Security measures: Police Commissioner Femi Haruna visited the bereaved family and deployed officers to the area to maintain public order.
Arrests in the Elebu-Oja Robbery Case: In a separate operation, the Counterfeiting and Fraud Unit acted on information provided by the public regarding a ring of thieves operating along the Alao-Akala Highway.
Arrests and Seizures: Elijah Teejay, 21, and Ottu Emmanuel, 33, were arrested. Police seized two replica handguns and drugs.
Confessions: The suspects confessed to several armed robberies committed in Oyo State and neighboring states. They will be charged once the investigation is complete.
Security Commitment: Police spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Ayanlade Olayinka emphasized that law enforcement continues to prioritize intelligence. The public is urged to remain vigilant, while law enforcement continues its joint patrols to ensure the safety of criminals in the state.
