Two media aides serving under the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, have officially stepped down from their respective roles, marking a notable development within the state’s media and communications team.
The officials, Pastor Taiwo Gbamila, who served as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Multimedia, and Mr. Olugbenga Abire, the Special Assistant on New Media, submitted their resignation letters on separate days. Their departures bring an end to their tenure in the administration of Ondo State, where they were actively involved in shaping the government’s digital presence and public communication strategy.
Pastor Gbamila formally conveyed his decision in a letter addressed to the governor and copied to the Secretary to the State Government. In his message, he expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve in the administration. His resignation letter was brief but respectful, reflecting appreciation for the trust placed in him during his time in office. He acknowledged the privilege of contributing to the government’s communication efforts and respectfully indicated his intention to relinquish his position.
Similarly, Mr. Abire announced his departure through a personal statement, expressing mixed emotions about leaving his role. He described his decision as a difficult one, highlighting the strong working relationships he had built during his service. He noted that his experience in the administration had been meaningful and that he remained appreciative of the opportunity to contribute to the government’s media outreach and engagement with the public.
Abire further disclosed that he had personally informed the governor of his intention to step down. According to him, the governor received the news with understanding and offered his support, including prayers and words of encouragement regarding his future plans. He also informed his colleagues within the administration, many of whom reportedly expressed goodwill and wished him success in his next endeavors.
Both former aides had been part of the governor’s media and digital communication team, playing key roles in managing information dissemination, multimedia content, and online engagement. Their responsibilities included strengthening the administration’s communication channels and ensuring that government activities were effectively communicated to residents and the wider public.
Despite their exit, neither Gbamila nor Abire publicly disclosed specific reasons for their resignations. Their statements focused largely on appreciation, reflection, and optimism about the future rather than providing detailed explanations for their decisions.
Their simultaneous departure has drawn attention within political and administrative circles, as media aides play a crucial role in shaping public perception and maintaining the government’s communication framework. Their exit marks a transition period for the governor’s media team, which may require adjustments to maintain continuity in the administration’s communication operations.
While their next steps remain undisclosed, both former aides indicated a willingness to remain connected and continue contributing to society in other capacities. Their resignation signals the close of one chapter in their public service careers and the possible beginning of new professional pursuits beyond government service.
