There are indications of a possible easing of the political tensions in Rivers State following a meeting between President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

The meeting, which took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday night, also had in attendance some political leaders from Rivers State.

Although details of the discussions were not officially disclosed, the meeting is believed to be part of efforts to resolve the prolonged political crisis in the state.

Sources familiar with the development said Governor Fubara later accompanied Wike to his residence in Guzape, Abuja, after the meeting with the President.

The governor was reportedly reconciliatory during the visit and expressed his willingness to restore their political relationship.

The crisis between Wike and Fubara has led to deep divisions within the Rivers State political structure, affecting governance and party unity in recent months.

Observers say the President’s intervention could mark a significant step toward resolving the dispute and restoring stability in the state.

Further details of the outcome of the meeting are expected.
