The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned candidates against engaging in registration infractions or violating the attestation signed during the ongoing registration for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, issued the warning as the registration process entered its third week.
Speaking with media executives, Oloyede emphasised that registration infractions are serious offences that attract severe penalties.
He warned that candidates found guilty could be barred from sitting the UTME for up to three years.
He also disclosed that the names of offenders may be published in national newspapers and shared with other public examination bodies.
According to him, candidates who violate registration rules could also be handed over to law enforcement agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), or the Nigeria Police, for investigation and possible prosecution.
The registrar urged candidates to strictly comply with all registration guidelines and avoid any form of malpractice that could jeopardise their academic future.
Registration for the 2026 UTME commenced on January 26, 2026, and candidates are expected to complete the process before the official deadline.
