A Kano State High Court has fixed April 15 for the hearing of all pending applications in the ongoing trial of a former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and others over alleged misappropriation of public funds.

Ganduje is standing trial alongside his wife, Hafsat Umar, on an 11-count charge bordering on bribery, conspiracy, misappropriation and diversion of public funds amounting to billions of naira.

Other defendants in the case include Abubakar Bawuro, Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, as well as corporate entities—Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd and Lasage General Enterprises Ltd.

At the resumed hearing, the prosecution counsel, Mr Victor Oni, informed the court of his readiness to proceed and drew attention to a motion dated November 24, 2025, seeking leave to file additional proof of evidence against the defendants.

Defence counsel, Mrs Lydia Oluwakemi-Oyewo, also told the court that the defence was ready to proceed, noting that a motion dated July 17, 2025, seeking a stay of proceedings had been filed.

Similarly, counsel to the third and seventh defendants, Mr Adekunle Taiye-Falola, informed the court of a motion dated May 23, 2025. Counsel to the fifth defendant, Mr Muhammad Shehu, disclosed that an affidavit had been filed to notify the court of an application for stay of proceedings before the Court of Appeal.

Counsel to the sixth defendant, Mr Abubakar Ahmad, told the court that he had filed a notice of preliminary objection alongside an application for extension of time to respond on points of law, dated February 2, and requested a date for the hearing of his application.

Counsel to the eighth defendant, Mr Faruk Asekome, also indicated readiness to proceed.

After hearing submissions from counsel, the trial judge, Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu, adjourned the matter until April 15 for the hearing of preliminary objections and all pending applications.
