Nigerian army soldiers freed eleven people who had been kidnapped during a security operation in the Kachia district of Kaduna State.

The rescue followed a swift intervention by soldiers from the Doka Forward Operating Base, who detected suspicious activity on the Kaduna-Abuja Highway on Monday evening using a surveillance system.

According to the army, the soldiers observed armed terrorists leading their hostages through the bushland along the Gidan Duna-Amale Road and immediately gave chase.

Upon seeing the soldiers and patrol vehicles, the attackers reportedly abandoned their hostages and fled into the surrounding forest. The soldiers secured the area and fired preemptive shots to prevent a possible counterattack. However, no further fighting ensued.

The freed victims included five adult men, three women, and three children. They were reportedly abducted on October 26, 2025, in the commune of Gada Mallam Maman in the Kachia County.

The victims were later returned to their communities and reunited with their families.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to continuing security operations to dismantle criminal networks and ensure the safety of people and property along major roads and in communities throughout the region.
