The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ongoing reforms in Nigeria’s migration management system, particularly the digitalisation of passport services and the deployment of modern technologies.
The monarch also praised the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap, for driving reforms that have improved efficiency and service delivery within the agency.
Oba Ogunwusi made the remarks during a visit to the headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Abuja, where he renewed his diplomatic passport. He was received by the Comptroller-General alongside members of the NIS management team.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the NIS, the Ooni expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for policies aimed at strengthening migration management, border governance and institutional capacity within the service.
According to the statement, the traditional ruler described the reforms being implemented under the Renewed Hope Agenda as transformative, noting that they have positively impacted passport administration, border control and overall migration governance.
The Ooni’s commendation, the statement added, reflects growing recognition of the Federal Government’s efforts to reposition the Nigeria Immigration Service through institutional reforms, digital innovation and modernisation initiatives.
The visit underscored the increasing public and stakeholder confidence in the reforms being undertaken to enhance Nigeria’s migration management system and align it with global best practices.
